MARIGOLD was built in 1891 to serve on Lake Superior and Lake Huron. She was a 159' iron hull steamer built by the Detroit Drydock Co. of Wyandotte, Michigan. She served over 54 years, longer than any other tender, even with the numerous harsh winters of the Great Lakes.
