GRAYS REEF #57 served at Grays Reef, at the northern end of Lake Michigan from 1891 to 1923. She was 102' LOA built in Toledo, Ohio in 1891. She was one of three lightships built to serve only in the navigation season (non-ice months) on the Great Lakes. She was framed and planked with white oak powered by a single screw steam engine. Number 57 and her two sisterships were the first lightships to be powered by machinery.
